Shout out to all the single Moms out there -- it is such a tough job and I know I'm not even experiencing the half of it.
What I really needed was to sit for a minute and gather my wits. I listened and allowed myself.
When my five minutes were up, I had a quick shower, put myself together and we were out the door in 20.
This is the joy of my new mindfulness practice -- being present in every moment. I don't need to rush ahead to what's next or beat myself up for what has just been.
It's a challenge, no doubt, but the benefits are awesome: more calm and a lot less guilt.
It's absolutely worth the work.
On the school run, I realized my new mindfulness practice and my approach to personal style are about the exact same thing: enjoying the moment.
I'll explain what I mean.
Recently, I was talking with a Workshop attendee and she told me her number one style challenge is her morning.

Does she have the 30 minutes or take joy in choosing her outfits every day? Emphatically not.
Spending 30 minutes in confusion sets her up to be stressed, running late and lacking in the very calm she wants to feel.
All she needs is clarity.
Once we clarify her style, we can create her looks and make sure she has an outfit for every event in her life.
Mornings will become easier.
She, too, can take a moment to sit with her thoughts, then put on the outfit for that day and walk out the door in command of the moment.
This can be true for you, too.
Clarifying your personal style allows you to literally step out the door into who you want to be. It's hard to do that if you're caught up in what was or focusing on what's next. You have to be in the now; personal style helps put you there.
I'm calling it the mindfulness of personal style. It's going to be my theme all Fall. Are you ready to rock it with me?
