DailyOutfit is no different.
Over the years, my business has shifted and grown. I began with the knowledge that I was organized and visual and had created a process that intrigued others. I operated on my own ability to see what others could not.
However, as I worked, I quickly realized there was a very big piece missing in this "makeover" process: the woman herself! While I (or any other stylist) might have a vision of what will flatter, it doesn't matter if she herself cannot own the changes made.
Transformation is a participatory process. Certainly, it's nice to look pretty or have new hair, but ultimately, if you don't believe in it, it's not going to stick.
When I moved to the Netherlands, I knew I had an opportunity to examine this part of my business and transform it to truly serve my clients.
Throughout my re-branding, the creation of my online programs and re-creation of my VIP programs, this is the through line that has guided me: to ignite each client to shine her own light.
As I got ready to launch my marvelous new programs, I engaged with my marketing guru, Janet Wallace of Social Deviants, for help.
One of the first things she said to me was, "You are firing on all cylinders. You are walking the walk and talking the talk. Everything is ready! But..."
And this is why you seek help, right? To figure out what needs to be fixed and make a plan! We need differing perspectives and expertise to guide us on our paths forward. After all, that's why my clients come to me: because I know something they don't -- and I can teach it!
But...oh! The agony of that "but".
Now, I needed to represent my business as powerfully.
The "but" hit me square in the chest and I struggled with it -- hard. Janet and I brainstormed names and I played bingo with GoDaddy.com to figure out a new one. I posted on my personal Facebook for suggestions. Nothing sang. And this time, my community said, "What's the problem? It's a great name!"
When I spoke with my web guru, Amy Fuller Boyd, she helped me clarify the why: DailyOutfit always has and always will be about you stepping out that door feeling beautiful and confident. It is about the outfit. It is about everyday. The name makes sense. And with that decision made, we knew it was the logo. The green is for growth, the blue is for trust, and the white is for a fresh start. The block letters speak to practicality and simplicity.
As my process has evolved, I have kept those tenets of practicality and simplicity, but they are no longer king. Now, my work centers around you. We define your true beauty. We translate your beauty into your personal style. Then, we zero in on the rituals that allow you to inhabit your personal style with ease.We start with you and we end with you -- upgraded.
When I came to this decision, I knew changing the logo would be the right move -- if it was easy. And Amy hit the re-design out of the park immediately. Yes!!!
I loved the design, but got stuck on colors. After all, I want to encourage all women -- not just those who enjoy my own personal style. Back to Janet. She told me to go with what I love -- and when you do, it is magnetic. Sage advice!
And honestly -- this is what I tell my clients all the time! If you love it, it will make you feel good. Immediately, that good feeling translates into a confidence that cannot be matched by something more trendy or more expensive. Choose love -- every time.
I trusted my instincts, and we tried a different color combination. Oh, how I love my new logo!!
Thanks to everyone who helped me with this last piece of my brand revolution. I am SO excited to do the reveal!
If you've been wondering about that next step or feeling like you need to cross one more "t", trust your instincts. Seek help from your advisers (including me!) and start the process of discovery to create what you love. You'll be so happy you did!
My beautiful new logo will be revealed March 14th, so check back in with me here or join my Facebook event so it'll pop up on your NewsFeed!
