Visibility Day

I woke up this morning to find not only had my radio show posted as a podcast, but also my video had posted to PlanetFem!

When I first watched the video, all I could do was critique myself.  I realized that I had to talk to you about this -- and why it's important for you (and me) to show up as who we are each and every day!

Enjoy --

Here's the video I was talking about:

Do You Love Podcasts?

http://www.voiceamerica.com/show/2489/turn-the-page
Me, too!!  I listen to them when I work out and love the head space of exercise to drink in new, interesting ideas.

One of my favorite new podcasts is "Turn the Page" with Hemda Mizrahi on Voice of America.

And -- would you believe it -- I'll be featured on it this Friday!

I'm super excited to bring you this show!  It's a first for me to be interviewed for the radio.  It was such fun, I'd definitely like to do it again!

On the show, Hemda and I will be discussing my style formula and exploring lots of amazing client case studies so you can imagine how the process might work for you.

Here's the description of the show:
Style is a powerful way to harness the disparate parts of yourself and present a true, clear message about who you are. This episode will help to launch you on your personal style journey!  Global personal style coach and entrepreneur Allison Hamilton-Rohe will walk you through her unique personal style formula to help you imagine how style can work for you. We’ll talk about three key components of personal style: what flatters, what matters, and “the dream.” Allison will provide you with an insider’s look at how stylists determine what flatters you most.  She’ll clarify how the language of style can help you show the world who you truly are, and decode how personal style can make your dreams your reality.

Here's how to listen in:
Click here to take a look at her show page or search "Turn the Page" on ITunes and subscribe to get the episode.  I think you'll love it -- and love her show in general.  It's truly inspiring!

By the way, I know January is almost over, but have you written down your goals yet?  Remember, it'll make you 9x more likely to achieve them!

Let's make your dreams come true -- today!

Amplify Your Ambitions

Last week, I told you one of my 2016 goals is to empower smart, ambitious women to use the power of personal style.

My first action step?  I decided I want to speak live every other month.

How am I going to accomplish this?

I knew I needed to reach out to my network to see who was looking for speakers.

Unbelievably, as I was thinking this, an email arrived from a dear friend of mine asking me if I'd like to be interviewed on Voice of America.

Uh, hello universe!  You were listening?  Um, YES, thank you!

Just last week, I taped the show with the amazing host, Hemda Mizrahi.  I'm so excited about it!

Who knew that being interviewed could be so much fun?  Hemda is super organized and a very calming presence.  She had a clear format we worked through so we were prepped but not overly so.  The conversation just flowed!

There were some tech issues on her end, but I didn't feel nervous for one minute.  I knew she had it under control.  What a pro!

I'll be giving you the podcast at the end of the month so you can enjoy the fruit of our beautiful conversation.  Meanwhile, I'd like to recommend that you check out her show, "Turn the Page" on Voice of America.  You can even subscribe to it on ITunes!  Click here to take a look or search "Turn the Page" on ITunes.

In the meantime, I want to offer this as an inspiration to you.  Sometimes all you have to do is think your goals and an opportunity comes to you.  Then, all you need to do is say YES.

Have you written down your goals yet?  If not, just hit "reply" and send them to me.

Remember, it'll make you NINE times more likely to achieve them.  And who knows?  Maybe you'll get a magic email in YOUR in-box!

Asking for Help

Earlier this week, I shared my goals with you and encouraged you to write down yours because writing down your goals increases your likelihood of achieving them by a factor of NINE.

Kind of makes you want to write down your goals, doesn't it?  It's like *magic*!

Who doesn't want some magic?  AND I'm going to take it a step further.

Another powerful way to achieve your goals is to....ask for help!!  This is a tough one, so I'm going to walk my walk right now and ask YOU to help ME.

(EEK!  This is really hard!!)  Okay...deep breath.

Here is my manifesto:

Will you help me?

If you said YES -- rock on!!!  Thank you so so much.  That is awesome!!

I am truly fired up about my mission, but I know I cannot do it alone.  So -- thank you!

(Okay, I've calmed down now)

Honestly, I am open to however you want to help me.

I'm also happy to make it easy.  So, here are some suggestions:
  • Are you a subscriber?  If not, receive your 3 FREE videos when you sign up!
  • Would you love me to speak to your networking group?  Email me!
  • Do you have a friend in publishing who would love my book proposal?  Connect us!
  • Are you ready to step into your personal style?  Book your consult!

I am fired up about furthering my mission in 2016.

Why?  So I can help YOU achieve yours!

Let's do this!

Setting Your Goals: Increase Your Success 9x!!

Did you know you are NINE times more likely to succeed if you write your goals down?

That's right -- 9x more likely to succeed!  That's incredible!!

When I came across this factoid, I knew I had to share it with you -- here's how it works:

SETTING YOUR GOALS FOR 2016:
From Graffical Muse

Write whatever comes to mind -- dreams, fantasies or things you already know you are going to do.

Some goals could be stretch goals.  Increase what you think you can do by 4%.

Some could be wild & crazy.  You never know until you try!

Some goals could be easily achieved -- it doesn't mean you won't be happy when you get them done!

Once you've written down your goals, try to sketch out what you need to do to achieve them.

Just knowing the first step will make taking it 100% easier.

Here are my goals and first steps:

  • to double the reach of my personal style love message
    • put together a new freebie for my subscribers (that could be you!)
  • to empower smart, ambitious women to use the power of personal style
    •  speak live every other month
  • to finish my book proposal, polish it and find my agent
    • respect my scheduled book writing time and follow my awesome timeline
  • to enroll five amazing women in my Style Suites program
    • keep reaching out and inviting you in

What are YOURS?

Your Presence Is Your Present

Found on sarie.com
How do you light up a room?  What is your gift?

Do you tell funny stories?  Or are you a great listener?  Are you the one who pitches in and helps the host?  Or do you sit down on the floor and play with the kids?

Whatever it is that YOU bring to the table, now is the time.

During the holidays, everyone gets stressed.  There's a lot of excitement -- to be sure -- but all that excitement taxes the nervous system as well.

Consider your gift.  Name it.  Honor it.  Hold it up; it's yours!

How can you best give your gift this holiday?

One of my gifts is showing up.  I love festive occasions, cocktail parties and intimate dinners -- and last week, I showed up at many!

I celebrated with:
  • Connecting Women, the group that hosted my Style Starts Now! Workshop in September
  • Women's Business Initiative International
  • Amber Rahim, Coach and potential guest blogger
  • Professional Women's Network of Amsterdam, where I toasted my amazing mentees Claudia of Coaching by Claudia and Isabel of Uberhaupt Taaltraining
  • Donna Seid and Karin Bosscher of Isa Bella Linea

Woo-hoo!  It was super-fun and I loved spending time with all these amazing women!!

However, all these late nights take their toll on me.  I've been using my napitation (nap + meditation) technique to rest & restore.  But, it's not quite enough.  I need to create energy and calm to enjoy the kids during their time off of school.

Found on buzzfeed.com
I know this week is a tough one -- I am wrapping up projects, buying and receiving gifts for Christmas, the kids have a concert at school and I found out yesterday I need cupcakes for (um) tomorrow.  Oh, and my husband's off to (where was it?)...Portugal! Right!

But, I also know it's possible to take good care of yourself if you make it a priority.

For me, sleep is number one.  I've scheduled in my calendar to go to bed early Thursday & Friday -- and asked my husband to help me actually do it.

And (the big one) I'm staying put for Christmas.  As a family, we've realized Christmas at home with just us is just what we need!

What can you do for yourself this week?  What helps you re-charge?  Text your commitment to your partner or a friend for accountability.

Let's make this the best holiday ever!

Bring the gift of your presence to your holiday!

DailyOutfit's Festive Look

luluandgeorgia.com
Holiday party season is here and along with it all the excitement or stress of that irksome question, "What am I going to wear?"

In November, I challenged you to put your holiday looks together in advance and gave you a handy video to show you exactly how to get it done.

Now, I'm going to lay out a few looks for you so you can see what elements you have and what you're missing.

All of the thumbnails are shoppable, so click on whatever brings you joy!

HOLIDAY PARTY TROUSER LOOK 1:

+ + + + +
*If you're not sure of your body type, click here

COLOR STORY:  Black + Gold = glamour and sophistication
Black doesn't usually work for most of us right up next to our faces, but with holiday make-up, you can add color.  Choose a red lip or smokey/sparkly eye, smooth the skin with bb cream and concealer and add blush and/or bronzer.

USE YOUR WORDS:  Trousers + gold lame + sparkle + faux fur = glamour and sophistication
This look is fabulous, cool and luxe.  All the detail is understated, but add it up and you get, "Wow!"

OCCASION:  Work Holiday Party, Friends' Cocktail Party, Special Date Night

HOLIDAY DRESSY TROUSER LOOK 2:
+ + + + +
*If you're not sure of your body type, click here

COLOR STORY:  Black + Navy = trust and sophistication
I love black & navy as a color combination because you get all the great aspects of black (easily combined, wardrobe staple, cool) plus the skin-friendly glow of navy.  Pretty much everyone looks good in navy -- which is why jeans are so popular!

USE YOUR WORDS:  Trousers + sequins + faux fur + artisanal = creativity and sophistication
This look is layered, nuanced and yet accessible.  The details beg comment and the jacket is touchable and soft so you will meet lots of people in this outfit!

OCCASION:  Networking Holiday Party, Drinks with Friends, Date Night

HOLIDAY CASUAL TROUSER LOOK (PLUS):
+ + + + +

COLOR STORY:  Black + Navy = Calm and cool
This top works for any festive event at any time of the year.  You could pair it with white trousers and sandals in the summer and the earrings and clutch would work equally well.  The clutch and earrings instantly elevate the outfit.  If you want to go more casual, just use your everyday bag and a pair of hoops or colored studs.

USE YOUR WORDS:  Trousers + pattern + texture + artisanal = creativity and sophistication
This look is smooth and composed with intricacy and variety.  The beautiful pattern and lustre of the earrings evoke a mystic air but the trousers, boots and jacket keep this look firmly downtown.

OCCASION:  Neighborhood Holiday Party, Casual Dinner Out or Date Night

I hope you love these looks -- go ahead and purchase them or use them to inspire you to create your own!
