Winter Wrap-Up {VLOG}

Wim Koopman, Winter Sky 5
I've been loving the austere Winter skies we've been having recently, but I'm definitely ready for Spring!

In my Winter VLOG wrap-up, I'm talking about:
  • the power of motivation
  • how being "luxuriously selfish -- in a good way" is important for all of us
  • what I'm  recommending to get ready for Spring!

Enjoy!

In case you're curious about the posts I referred to in this vlog, here are the links:
Also, here are the two quotes I used to help me set my goals and trigger flow:
“Choose an ambition and, with full force, expect that it is possible and that you can make it happen. Give constant attention and committed effort to your dreams, and your motivation will perpetuate itself. Demonstrate a positive attitude as you strive for great things and take care to create a supportive environment around you that amplifies your motivation.”
—Brendon Burchard from The Motivation Manifesto
And the full quote about the 4% amp up to trigger flow:
“And that brings us back to the ‘challenge/skill ratio,’ the last of our internal flow triggers, and arguably the most important. The idea behind this trigger is that attention is most engaged (i.e., in the now) when there’s a very specific relationship between the difficulty of a task and our ability to perform that task.
If the challenge is too great, fear swamps the system. If the challenge is too easy, we stop paying attention. Flow appears near the emotional midpoint between boredom and anxiety, in what scientists call the flow channel—the spot where the task is hard enough to make us stretch but not hard enough to make us snap.
How hard is that?  Answers vary, but the general thinking is about 4 percent. That’s it. That’s the sweet spot.
If you want to trigger flow, the challenge should be 4 percent greater than the skills.  In technical terms, the sweet spot is the end result of what’s known as the Yerkes-Dodson law—the fact that increased stress leads to increased performance up to a certain intensity, beyond which performance levels off or declines.
In real-world terms, it’s not much at all.”

Let me know how you're doing setting your own ambitions and triggering flow!  I'd love to hear from you!
